Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Proctor-Silex 26500 Morning Baker Belgian Waffle BakerCustomer Review: Good little waffle maker Summary: 5 StarsI make waffles for guests and one waffle iron takes too long, sooo I bought 3 of these because they were reasonably priced. I always spray top and bottoms of waffle makers before I put the batter on--so that was no issue for me. They're great! Probably a bit better then the older one I use, but hey...it is older. The waffles are excellent. I'd buy them again--though I hope I don't need to for a couple of years!
Customer Review: An excellent waffle maker! Summary: 5 StarsI received this waffle maker as a gift about 3 months ago. It makes perfect, golden brown, waffles. When the heat is ready, the light on top turns off. As you add batter, the light goes back on to heat up. Basically, when the light goes off again, your waffle is read - about 4-5 mins. I wish there was a timer, but for this price it is well worth it.
Customer Review: Just what I was looking for. Summary: 4 StarsI've been looking everywhere for a round belgian waffle baker. No store seemed to have it and if they did it was not deep enough. Looked in Amazon and did not only found the right product but at the right price and excellent shipping and handling rate. The waffle baker is great. Thank You!!!!!!!
Customer Review: Superb Value Summary: 5 StarsThis belgian waffle maker works great. It heats up quickly, and only take a couple of minutes to bake the waffle. Clean up is also very easy. I recommend spraying it with non-stick spray before each use. That way, all you need is a moist paper towel to clean the machine. The waffles come out evenly baked. I definitely recommend this unit. You can't go wrong for the price.
Customer Review: Great Waffle Iron Summary: 4 StarsI've only had this thing for about 2 weeks, but I've used it three times.
Things I like about this waffle iron:
1. Using their recipe (doubled) and leaving the waffles in for a little over half the recommended time, I made delightful waffles. Substituting half whole wheat, fewer eggs, and a little less oil, I made pretty good waffles.
2. As long as you don't stint on spraying the thing with cooking spray, the waffles pop out easily with no sticking.
3. Once I accidentally unplugged the microwave after using this thing (instead of unplugging it like I meant to) and I didn't notice for 2 hours. Meanwhile, it didn't short out or burn up or start a fire.
Things I don't like about this waffle iron:
1. It is difficult to clean. I use a wet paper towel and get most of the cooking spray off, but it is almost impossible to get it all. Luckily I don't care all that much, but if you are a neat freak it could drive you nuts.
2. Cooking spray drips through the cracks in the hinge and ends up on the counter.
3. It takes over a half an hour to make enough waffles for my family of 4 (a doubled recipe makes about 7 waffles, and each one takes about 5 minutes to cook, and that is after you mix the batter). And of course the first one is cold by the time the second one comes out. It is too bad it doesn't come doubled.
But, all in all I'm pretty satisfied with it, and if it is still working this well in a year I'll give it a 5th star.
