Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Proctor Silex 33015 1.5-Quart Round Slow Cooker

Customer Review: Wonderful product
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this little crockpot. Within a week of arrival I was able to use it twice to take and keep food warm at work for potlucks. The warm setting is a real advantage in addition to its removable liner and its portability.

Customer Review: I LOVE IT!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We got a giant 6 quart crock pot for our wedding and it's fantastic - but with just my husband and I, it's often too big. Cooking a stew for 2 would become a disaster because the 6 quart crock pot wouldn't allow all the ingredients to sit in liquid.

This is perfect for 2. I can make all my crock pot recipes and scale them down so we don't waste any food and still have the convenience of coming home to a fully cooked meal. The price is so great - I definitely recommend this to singles or couples who love the tender slow cooked meals, but don't want to waste food or have to freeze left overs.

Customer Review: Excellent for empty nester .... or a student!
Summary: 5 Stars

This little slow cooker has everything you need: removable crock, longer cord, three (*3*) heat settings, glass metal-rimmed lid, small footprint. As far as I can tell, it doesn't overheat, even on high. I just made a wonderful roast in it: about 1.5 lbs chuck roast (trimmed), 1 medium Walla Walla sweet onion, 2/3 can low-sodium beef broth, 2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce, and 1 Tbsp no-salt garlic/herb seasoning blend; brown the roast in a little oil, put in crock with other ingredients; cook on high for 4.5 hrs or on low for 8 hrs should do the trick; thicken the juice with a little cornstarch for gravy to serve over mashed potatoes --- HEAVEN!!!

It's the perfect size for 2-3 chicken breast halves, a small pork roast or a pork tenderloin or two, a nice small pot of soup, etc. You should get enough for a meal today plus leftovers for a couple of additional meals.

Clean up is a breeze with the removable crock, and the exterior of the unit cleans just fine with a damp cloth. The small footprint allows for out-of-the-way placement on the countertop for cooking, and easier storage.

I'm an older adult grad student, and this little cooker is going to get a lot of use this winter while I'm working on my thesis. Highly recommended!

The right diet directs sexual energy into the parts that matter. --Barbara Cartland

Don't ya just hate dragging out the "big-boy" (aka 3, 5, 6 quart) and slow cooking an enormous amount of food (and ending up with a weeks worth of left-overs no one will ever eat) -- when all you really wanted was to cook a sumptuous intimate dinner, make a creamy little cheese dip, just-enough soup or a sinfully-rich rum sauce? Well, now you can!

Proctor Silex 1.5-Quart Round Slow Cooker slow cooker can, seemingly, do everything the 3, 5, 6 quart can (except, perhaps, roast an entire pig) -- is a lot cuter, takes up less space, will get used a lot more -- and doesn't need batteries! You may want to pick up two --- Think Holidays! One can take this little baby anywhere; office parties, college dorm, hotel room, out on the patio/deck -- if you've got an outlet, you've got a potential party.

The Slow Cooker is white-on-white-on-white, round, glass lid with white plastic knob, a heavy (removable) white ceramic insert, a longer (white) cord than most "big-boys" have. There is an off, keep warm, low, high knob...but, no indicator light to let you know if it is on.

Customer Review: A marvelous little unit
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for small, and this was the smallest I saw. The heat control offers several heat settings, and the cord is long enough to make it to the outlet on my counter. I wanted a quality appliance for heating pickling solution for metalworking, and this fits the bill. Its only drawback for this specialized application is the beautiful steel rim on the pyrex lid, which is adverse for the particular solution I use. But for the price and the quality of the rest of the appliance, I'm thrilled. Besides, if I were using it for anything else I'd want that nice steel band.
